We got back to the v108 classroom (it’s slowly becoming our “sanctuary”). We had some tasks in mind that we worked on: we had a postgresql configuration issue to solve and the talk about the Rádio Zero future portal. We also work on the radia-source project and on the Rádio Zero forum.

The details:

• Regarding the postgresql, what we did was to create a new role (postres user) called labs and we used the indent feature to map it to a real system user. All the databases are owned by the labs user and we develop using that system user. The role and db creation are done using the postgre system user. By the way, postgres web based manual is an excellent example of good url namespace usage: if you ever need a specific postgres version of a manual section, just change the version in the url and you got it!
• In the last week we talked about the possibility of the incorporation of a massively used cms (like joomla or drupal) in our technology stack – we need some cms to develop the portal of Rádio Zero – and to investigate cms solutions to fulfil this need. Our rails based results were poor: the only solutions that we liked are pretty immature (zena:http://zenadmin.org and cmsbrowser:http://www.browsercms.org ). Non rails solutions are were almost discarded because we will need to develop upon (and maintain the application) and we don’t want spend time learning “yet another web framework”.
• We are also re-investing on some labs marketing – we will make a new poster to distribute in the IST campi and in the web.

Em termos de trabalhos: resolveu-se o problema com o postgres do plopes, depois disso eu estive a bulir no radia-source e o zaki esteve a bulir no forum. Entretanto discutiu-se um pouco sobre a tecnologia a utilizar no futuro portal da Zero.
Também abordámos o marketing dos labs e elaborou-se um plano de divulgação.
